Madeline & Apostle Islands, WI
MISA Astrophotography Workshop
Hi Guys! I'm excited to share with you that I have partnered up with MISA(Madeline Island School of Arts) to offer you a truly exceptional photography workshop in the Madeline and Apostle Islands!
Join award-winning travel and astro photographer Sean Parker at one of the country’s most amazing unspoiled locations for photography. This five-day workshop on Madeline Island, the largest of the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. The MISA campus boasts a sprawling pastoral setting which allows you to relax and settle in to a creative state of mind. Enjoy gourmet catered meals served by friendly and professional staff just steps from your deluxe accommodations and 24-hour studio space.
Madeline Island is an incredible venue for astro photography because it is enveloped by the massiveness of Lake Superior. The sky is black and totally devoid of light noise and pollution. On many a warm summer night, the island is subject to unique and incredible storm lighting. These unique qualities make our island the perfect location for capturing dramatic images of the Milky Way, star trails, and if we’re lucky… the Northern Lights!
Sunsets here are on fire with color! The workshop includes a sunset boat cruise to the famous Devil’s Island Sea Caves. Our 80-passenger catamaran liner features open air top deck seating and an all-glass interior lower level. Our captain makes certain to pass close by quintessential and picturesque lighthouses and gets up into or very close to the massive openings of the sea caves. This boat cruise allows plenty of time for students to capture images from the unique perspective of the water.
Campus is just five minutes from Big Bay Park’s half moon beach where you’ll experience unique sunrise and sunset views over the lagoon, on foot or by canoe. Students will be captivated by cloud formations and reflections with unusual lighting that make for great panoramic shots of the island.
You'll spend time in the studio with Sean learning how to prepare for these photographic opportunities and how to capture your best shots. Studio lecture and demos will cover camera settings, capturing Milky Way images, light painting, star-trails, Adobe Lightroom post processing, and more.
This workshop is designed to take your skills to the next level in an enjoyable and incredible atmosphere. If you have been wanting to learn from an expert, spend time with like minded people, and experience one of the most amazing places on the planet, this workshop is calling your name!
See you on Madeline Island!

-"After attending Sean's amazing workshop, I took the post processing class. The photo was nice to start, but after learning how to edit, the whole thing popped! It made a world of difference. I would highly recommend his workshops!" - Amy Utter
This is a 5-day and 5-night workshop class which includes 4 nights of photography and post-production classes. A 4-night course gives us enough time to explore numerous locations and utilize all the information we learn during the workshop. We'll spend the first hour during our meet-and-greet discussing camera settings & other pre-shoot information and 4-5 hours photographing the stars above using different techniques listed below. This is a 10 person max workshop. Smaller class sizes allows the best possible learning conditions in a group setting, and is more personal. If you would like a private 1-on-1 workshop, that can be arranged before or after these dates. Please email me if you are interested in doing so.
